Didn’t like the rear apron I made yesterday so used bits and pieces of it to make this new one. Really dig how it’s turning out. Tomorrow I’ll finish welding it together and do a bit of trimming on the lower edge and she’ll be finished.

Rear apron is all finished up. 100% tig welded. Now to move onto the trunk lid. It almost doesn’t feel like it’s taken 2 weeks 4-6 hr days to get the trunk this far.

I agree. Better right than quick. I think that’s why my builds, up until this one, have taken me so long to complete.

I was going to start on the lid this morning but by the time I got off work I was too wiped to even set foot in the shop so after letting the dogs out I went straight to sleep. I need to pick up some 1/2” or 3/4” square tubing to make the frame for the lid and everywhere that sells steel is closed over the weekend so I’m probably going to wait until Monday to start on that.

Not to be a dick but I am quite a bit younger than most of the guys on here.

In other news, I was offered a job by the body shop owner again. Apparently he’s seen my work on FB and is really impressed. So I think in a few years, when I am finished with school and I have 10 years in on the Railroad, I’ll jump ship and work for him. At the least it’ll get me back into the automotive field and some auto body experience for when I do decide to go out on my own.
 
Havent really gotten anything done this week. The piece of scrap I found was too hard to turn down on the lathe with the tooling we have at work to make the wheels for my harbor freight tubing roller so I ordered a set from Swag off-road and they showed up last night. Spent this morning out at the lake but not to fish or boat. A coworker showed me a few pictures of a car he found in a coulee so I had to go out and see it and try to come up with a plan to retrieve it. You see, it’s on BNR land bordered on all sides by private land owners and the lake. It’s also roughly 100’ down a steep hill where the farmers pushed a bunch of scrap and trash off of it. It’s not sunk down in the dirt except the rear bumper but there’s no wheels or axles under it. It will probably be one of the hardest recoveries I could imagine if I get permission from one of the land owners to drive closer to where it is. But in the end, I think it would be well worth it for such a rare car.

1941 Lincoln Zephyr I believe. You do know those were a unit style body, it has a full frame but it is welded to the floor, not bolted.

Looks worth saving.

How much of it will come apart? If all the fenders and doors, etc., will come off, the rest could be hauled up with less worry.

Doors and fenders come off as does trunk lid. Front inner fenders are welded to cowl and core support. As beat up as it is, a few more dents won't matter.
Lincoln axles are wider than Ford of same era.

It'll take a big winch to drag that heavy boat up that hill since it won't roll.
