mayby ill check this one out .I can pick one up lockaly for 400.00 ...160,000 kms lots of miles but good for experimenting ...got the four cylinder and the shaft drive just have to butcher it and figger out the motor

From the pics, that is a left side shaft drive.
The BMW trans is right side drive.

[ddev Imagine this:

Your choice of 4 cyl bike motor, cut the trans off,
turn the motor sideways. No prob so far.

Couple that Kawi' bevel drive(above) to the back of the motor,
so the output is on the left side. A sprocket on the output
would drive a chain connected to a Harley trans. (I've seen
"new" rubber mount HD trans on Ebay, with a damaged case,
for a couple hundred. The part that was damaged wasn't
necessary for a non stock application. [clCut that part off)
The input and output are on the same side of the HD trans.

That would get away from the shaft drive,
and give more options on wheels, frame stretch, etc.

Block is slight different from the Honda, but it looks doable.

Take a look at the hub on the left end of the crank.

What about the oil pickup it,s in the trans ....so that bevel gear is a high speed versoin of that angle drive box I posted verry interesting eh....gonna see if the kawi is still avalable.....hope...hope...for 4 hundre bucks cant lose........

Mayby why cook used the honda550 case as not much to remove and looks like the oilpump/ filter may be on the laft center of the crankcase.

If the 550 is like the 750, the pump is in the trans.
The filter is on the front of the motor.

He might have used the 550 because it was free. Just guessing.

Cook's motor looks like it has 2 external oil pumps,
driven by the same shaft. One for scavenge, one for pressure.

The rear gear is not 1:1 , so your ratios would be all screwed up.

But you might be headed in the right direction.
