Looks like the 750 Honda pan is O.K. But have to see one closer from the inside.

... and found that on most engins the oilpan from the tranny protrudes into the crancase cavity

I think they run the same oil in the engine and transmission.
Saves space, weight, and money.

Yes, that would have to be covered. maybe cut and
weld the stock piece, or make something custom.

If I wanted a twin cam motor, I think I would try and get
a shaft drive 4 cyl, one with a separate bevel gear box.
The splines that drive the bevel gear box would be useful.

The oiling system is still a little puzzling. [S
Ideally the system would include a pressure relief, for cold starting.
Haven't figured that part out yet.

Honda nighthawk,cb900 would be a couple options four cylinder shaft drive. Will try to make a list lots of options. Not shure I like the camcovers though kind of big and gnarly.D

Is this what you are talking about ....Too complicated for me what is the first pick some kind of speedo drive doesnt seem to serve any purpose..and is that a flipped up norton trans and what about oil when its flipped like that.Do you mean that using a setup like this will shorten the overall drivline setup..

It is a possibility.

The trans looks like a kick start Harley,
not sure what the Norton piece is, maybe part of the clutch ? [S

The trans works by splash lubrication, so it shouldn't be a crisis, as long as there is enough oil in the case. Confederate wouldn't have used it in a production bike if there was a potential problem.

A Japanese 4 cyl is probably no longer than a HD motor anyway.

"A Japanese 4 cyl is probably no longer than a HD motor anyway"
Thats what I was thinking it doesnt seem that long anyways. So with the addition of a seperat trans shouldnt be to long.

Saw a Nighthawk today. Couldn't see the bevel drive clearly,
because there is a cheap black plastic cover over it. [S
The motor/trans is VERY compact, doesn't look like
the crank sticks out too far on either end.
