Many Thanks!

Harley Rider -

Many thanks for the time you have given in documenting your build for the 46. I have gleaned so many new ideas from your detailed build thread for my 46s. Please keep the information coming as you finish your truck so that we are not caught in suspended animation landholding our breath for the next post.... [;)

40 Chevy Truck Inspired

Harley Rider

Update! Because of seeing your 40 Chevy build project I have gone ahead and picked up a 40 Chevy that was just north of me. A complete truck with original running gear in her (she runs as well). I will put her in line with my 46s as another project to be done.... [dr

hey t a t thanks. here is an update. been busy workin on other peoples stuff. I have got some stuff of my own done. still doin body work. I really dont like doin body work, so I kind of pick away at it between doin other things. took the rockers out and worked them over and coated the back side with some rust converter.I cleaned and sprayed all the underside with the same stuff. plan to cover with spray on bed liner. I haven't been able to get the bolts out of the door hinges, so I carefully drilled out the bolts to save the hinges.this is where the story goes bad.when I got the hinges off I wired them together and put them in my rust remover tank, and forgot about them for about two weeks. not much left when I remembered and fished them out.

I was looking at my front end and realized I hadnt built in enough adjustability for the upper control arms so I cut the mounts off and repositioned them should be good now. after that I stripped down the frame so I could flip it over and finish some welding and start to prep it for paint. I converted the rear end to disc brakes from another one I had, easy bolt on swap. I had another axle with a posi I was going to use, but it ended up being 26 spline, I need 28 spline so I am looking for another . still need to decide what gear? thinking 3:73 , 3:90 or 4:10.

Depending on which carrier you have , you may be able to change out the axle gears from 26 to 28. BTW your truck is looking awesome!
