Love them 40's trucks whether it be ford or chevy. Love the gasser idea. They're always bad a--. Good luck in your build. I have no doubt it'll be cool.

I have been tryin to decide were mount a battery for a while. the fender well headers opened up space under the floor. so I built a batt.holder and bolted it to the frame.

my cute little alternator

I didn't want an alternator on the top or hangin off the side of the motor. so I found this little one. and mounted it low and out of sight.

That's a cool set up [cl I put one in that place on a blown ford, no room up top, but it was full size, the little one would have been great.
Where did you find it for future reference [S

I got it off e-bay. I think it may be like one from a Geo. it's only 40 amp but I'm only running lights an msd 6 and a radio. no heater, no wipers,no elec. fuel pump.no elec. fan.

got a gauge panel made. I had an old set of SW gauges. found a speedo at the last swap meet for cheap and a speedways fuel gauge and sender.the panel is some sheet aluminum epoxyed and vacuum pressed to some 1/2" furniture grade plywood.

clutch and brake pedals

I've been putting this off waiting to buy an under floor pedal and master cylinder setup. I still have the original pedals and decided to see what I could do with them.after some mock up ,I realized I could make make the clutch linkage mechanical instead of hydraulic. (I never have liked the idea of a hyd. clutch). so after some measuring and making some crude drawings. this is what I came up with so far. still need to make an arm to operate the master cylinder. will clamp it to the frame today and see if it will actually works before adding some bracing and gussets and weldin it up and bolting to the frame.

OK got pedals done.everything seems to work properly. the three bolts with jam nuts are stops,two on the clutch to adjust throwout bearing freeplay and to keep from pushing it too far in and one for the brake pedal coming up. still need to drill and tap some holes to bolt it to the frame. the only problem I see is, the brake lines will have to make a tight bend to clear the shifter linkage. I may change it out for one with ports on both sides.
